Velatura Provides Sustainable Interoperability Across the U.S.

With the goal of servicing the landscape of needs across the country for sustainable interoperability, Velatura Public Benefit Corporation (Velatura) is bringing a new model of health data exchange to the marketplace.

In the few months since its launch, the organization is already making tremendous strides in supporting organizations in their mission to interoperate and streamline the sharing of pertinent electronic information.

For example, Velatura recently announced that Connecticut’s health information exchange, Connie, has secured participation by 25 healthcare providers, including two of the state’s largest hospital systems, the largest provider group, and the state’s Medicaid administrative services organization.

In addition, the Georgia Health Information Network (GaHIN), the state-designated health information exchange (HIE) for Georgia, now has a contract with Velatura, where Velatura’s advanced tools and service offerings will reduce onboarding burden. The goal is to provide more value to GaHIN, and encourage more participation within Georgia and across the country.

Velatura also announced the launch of United States QHIN (USQHIN), a wholly owned subsidiary that will use data exchange to scale and solve national interoperability challenges. USQHIN aims to close the gap between effective local or regional exchange and national exchange by emphasizing collaboration and honoring existing network relationships to benefit all participants.

The organization is also on the cutting-edge of providing insights into tackling some of today’s biggest healthcare challenges. For example, the Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN) and Velatura recently gathered a national panel of experts to discuss the bioethics of sharing big data, including how ethics may influence our country's pandemic response.

In the coming weeks, we will be hosting a RosettaHealth podcast panel with a number of Velatura leaders, who will share more insights into the organization’s overall mission and efforts.
