eHealth Exchange: 1 Billion HIE Transactions Per Month
Last week, eHealth Exchange, a health information exchange (HIE), announced that May 2022 marked the first month that the eHealth Exchange Hub platform surpassed 1 billion requests processed.
eHealth Exchange’s Hub provides network members with a single application programming interface (API) for connectivity. This enables members to interoperate with five federal agencies and the nation’s leading health systems, pharmacies, regional and state health information exchanges, medical groups, dialysis centers, and others to reduce information sharing expenses and complexities.
“The platform reduces the burdens of health information exchange on healthcare facilities, meaning these facilities can enhance patient-centric services easily and reliably,” said Jay Nakashima, executive director of eHealth Exchange, in this press release. “After near misses for months, we are proud to have hit this important milestone and look forward to continuing to provide our network members with efficient and cost-effective interoperability.”
eHealth Exchange also announced how it is suited to be among the nation’s first Office of the National Coordinator’s (ONC’s) Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) Designated Qualified Health Information Networks (QHINs). The timing is perfect for this announcement with The Sequoia Project recently releasing additional details regarding the process and requirements for becoming a QHIN.
As we highlighted in December 2021, thanks to the RosettaHealth platform, Healthcare Access San Antonio (HASA), the non-profit, community HIE for North, South and West Texas, was able to join eHealth Exchange.
In addition, the RosettaHealth platform makes it possible to share data with other systems on CommonWell, which has more than 22,000 healthcare provider sites in its nationwide network.
The RosettaHealth HealthBus platform makes this all possible by leveraging technology, server-less, and cloud infrastructure to provide scalable, secure information transport, data wrangling, and orchestration services – removing development time, and cost and maintenance of in-house infrastructure.
