PHIX: Improving Health Through Collaboration and Data Technology

With the mission of improving health through collaboration and data technology, PHIX is an HIE based in El Paso, TX, that serves providers and patients in west Texas and southern New Mexico.

Leveraging health information exchange technology, the organization facilitates data sharing between hospitals, emergency departments, clinics, public health, laboratories, imaging centers, and other health providers.

PHIX offers a clinical viewer, which allows providers to review their patients’ records from across the PHIX network. This access to medical records securely and electronically at the point of care drives value by improving outcomes, reducing readmissions, and reducing repeat imaging, labs, and diagnostic procedures.

It also offers a wide-range of other services including Notifications, PHIX email, Lab Ordering and Results, Vaccine Information Exchange, Trauma Image Sharing, and Closed-Loop Referrals.

As highlighted in this 2019 El Paso Times guest article, Emily Hartmann, the Executive Director at PHIX, shares the overall mission and vision of the organization, as well as highlights how PHIX enables community providers to share information back and forth with VA and military providers.
