When it comes to acute care hospitals, health data exchange and interoperability has expanded, but some gaps remain to be addressed.

According to a recent ONC Data Brief, 70 percent of U.S. hospitals participated in health data interoperability in 2023. In addition, from 2018 to 2023, hospitals routinely engaging in interoperable exchange increased by 54 percent.
