PODCAST: Enabling Interoperability and Data Exchange During COVID-19
In the following Healthcare Strategies Podcast, hosted by Xtelligent Healthcare Media, Mariann Yeager, CEO of The Sequoia Project, describes the current state of interoperability, after the finalization of the ONC’s Interoperability Rule, and how the COVID-19 pandemic is accelerating the shift to better health data exchange.
With the COVID-19 pandemic creating a new urgency for health data exchange for care facilities, interoperability has never been more important, and The Sequoia Project continues to help break down barriers.
In addition to working with the ONC to designate and monitor Qualified Health Information Networks (QHIN), the organization is driving new patient matching strategies, and shaping the future of health data exchange.
The Sequoia Project is also helping to facilitate coronavirus-related data sharing with public health organizations through its PULSE COVID effort. This allows public health workers to retrieve and view specific data fields about COVID-19 positive patients at makeshift clinics.
Mariann’s podcast comes on the heels of a recent RosettaHealth podcast where the former Chief Science Offcer at ONC, and Executive Director at MiHIN, discuss the value and role of health IT infrastructure in COVID-19 response. This podcast also highlights the role of telehealth, and how infrastructure is playing a key role in helping to share data with front-line care workers at field hospitals and testing facilities – without needing to re-invent new processes, standards and solutions.
Finally, we also recently recorded a RosettaHealth podcast interview, where executives from HASA and the Bronx RHIO discuss how HIEs are rapidly shifting and enabling health data exchange with public health organizations.
