Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE) Offers Largest Inter-Organizational Clinical Data Repository in the Nation
With a 30 year legacy in health data exchange, Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE) has the largest inter-organizational clinical data repository in the nation. The organization makes health data available to approximately 50,000 healthcare providers in Indiana and neighboring states.
“We have been able to amass more than 13 billion elements of clinical and claims data including public health data and payer information and patient data for things such as lab results, radiology reports, CCDs, transcriptions, cardiology reports and more," said John Kansky, President and CEO of IHIE, in this recent Healthcare IT News article.
As a result, IHIE is able to deliver services to not only providers, but also to multiple state government agencies, federal government agencies, health insurance companies and other stakeholders.
The HIE has broken down its product offerings into three distinct parts:
OneCare: With the goal of improving the health of the individual patients, OneCare provides interoperability and seamless delivery with EHRs and technologies that organize information around patients when and where they seek care.
PopCare: As a system that offers insight into population health, PopCare is designed to support population health efforts that serve to strengthen the community.
GovCare: GovCare provides a complete, coordinated effort to connect healthcare professionals to the state through communicable disease reporting and immunization registry programs, making clinical data available to Medicaid providers, and supporting statewide data analysis.
The HIE is also always looking to be on the cutting-edge of health data exchange.
“IHIE always is seeking to understand and adapt to new and different data standards and technologies, such as APIs, including but not limited to FHIR,” added Kansky, in the article. “The ability to take, store and share data is the lifeblood of our organization, so we always need to be ready and able to do so in the manner and timing that makes sense for our customers.”
