DirectTrust Announces Increase in 2021 Direct Secure Messages and New Conference with Civitas Networks for Health

Last week, DirectTrust announced that it supported more than 945 million direct secure messages during 2021, which is a 31 percent increase over the total number of transactions in 2020.

“In 2021, we saw a return to strong growth in message volume and in the number of organizations with access to direct secure messaging, after seeing a dip related to the pandemic in 2020,” said Scott Stuewe, president and CEO of DirectTrust, in this press release. “Our volume rebounded to over 100 million more transactions than we saw in 2019, making 2021 our best year yet.”

In addition to the news about the 2021 increase in direct secure messages, DirectTrust also made headlines with a joint announcement with Civitas Networks for Health. Both organizations are combining their respective annual conference events into “The Civitas Networks for Health 2022 Annual Conference, a Collaboration with the DirectTrust Summit.”

With the theme of “Better Together: Health Data Collaboratives and Information Exchange to Advance Health Equity,” the conference will be held August 21-24 at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter, San Antonio, TX.

The national hybrid event will provide a robust learning and networking experience for attendees both in-person and virtually. With an array of health care industry leaders sharing ideas and best practices around improving health information exchange and interoperability, as well as many other critical topics influencing health improvement efforts aimed at increasing health equity, attendees will depart with thought-provoking and actionable ideas to be implemented in their respective communities.

The conference is open to all members of Civitas Networks for Health and DirectTrust, as well non-members who are invested in health IT, information exchange and health care improvement. Learn more about the conference here, and how you can submit a speaking proposal.

In addition, in December, we hosted a RosettaHealth podcast interview with Lisa Bari, CEO of Civitas Networks for Health, who discussed her new role as full-time CEO, as well as the future of health data exchange. We also interviewed Kathryn Ayers Wickenhauser, Director of Communications at DirectTrust, who shared insights into the DirectTrust Interoperability Heroes Initiative.
